Government of Nigeria s National Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy (NEEDS): USAID/Nigeria is finalizing the design of several upcoming procurements to implement its Country Strategic Plan (CSP), 2004-2009. The USAID/Nigeria CSP can be downloaded from USAID?s website at www.usaid.gov.In the SO12 agriculture and economic growth sectors, two new programs will also be expected. Both of them will support the Government of Nigeria?s National Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy (NEEDS). The USAID funding for these programs is approximately $35 million over 5 years:a) The agriculture sector activities will focus on improved competitiveness of selected commodity chains; andb) The economic growth sector activities will focus on improved budgetary processes and economic management by key Nigerian government agencies.These two procurements are expected to be issued as drafts for comment o/a August 1, 2004.Any questions regarding the above information should be directed to Kenneth LuePhang, the USAID/Nigeria Agreement Officer, at [email protected], and Jackie Ramanitrera, the USAID/Nigeria Acquisition and Assistance Specialist, at [email protected].
