Grant for New Investigator Training Awards for Unintentional Injury, Violence Related Injury, Biomechanics, and Acute Care, Disability, and Rehabilitation-Related Research: CDC?s Procurement and Grants Office has published a program announcement entitled, ?Grant for New Investigator Training Awards for Unintentional Injury, Violence Related Injury, Biomechanics, and Acute Care, Disability, and Rehabilitation-Related Research?. Approximately $100,000 is available to fund four awards to public and private nonprofit and for profit organizations and by governments and their agencies, such as: Public nonprofit organizations, private nonprofit organizations, for profit organizations, small, minority, women-owned businesses, universities, colleges, research institutions, hospitals, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, federally recognized Indian tribal governments, Indian tribes, Indian tribal organizations, state and local governments or their Bona Fide Agents (this includes the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianna Islands, American Samoa, Guam, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau). Including, but not limited to, schools or departments of public health, medicine, nursing, criminal justice, bioengineering, or the behavioral or social sciences. The purpose of the program is to solicit research applications, encourage professionals from a wide spectrum of disciplines, support injury research by new investigators who are doctoral-level graduates, build the scientific base for the prevention and control of unintentional and violence ?related injuries, disabilities, and deaths, and encourage qualified applicants to focus on injury related research. It is expected that the awards will begin on or about August 2, 2004.
