Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Grant Program- Endangered Species Grant Program FY19: The Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) supports federal projects and grants aimed at jump-starting achievement of GLRI long term goals: safely eating the fish and swimming at our beaches, assuring safe drinking water, and providing a healthy ecosystem for fish and wildlife. The GLRI was announced in May of 2009 as part of the President's FY 2010 budget. To guide this work, federal agencies have drafted GLRI Action Plan II, which summarizes the actions that federal agencies plan to implement during the years 2015-2019. Information about the GLRI, including agency-by-agency funding allocations, and general descriptions of the work that's planned, is posted at http://greatlakesrestoration.us/. The GLRI Endangered Species Grant Program (GLRI-ES) provides grants and other assistance to individuals, groups, and government agencies engaged in voluntary conservation efforts to benefit species listed or proposed as endangered or threatened under the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended (Act), candidate species, or other at-risk species within the Great Lakes Basin of the United States. This is a notice of intent for three single source awards without competition under justification 505DM 2.14.B.2 and/or 4 in the total approximate amount of $170,000. The single source awards are as follows: 1) New York State Office of Parks Recreation and Historic Preservation (NYSOPRHP), in the approximate amount of $20,000, to continue the American hart¿s tongue fern propagation program for New York and Michigan populations. (NY) 2) NYSOPRHP, in the approximate amount of $30,000 to monitor and manage piping plovers on the shore of Lake Ontario (NY) 3) State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY-ESF), in the approximate amount of $120,000, to research potential sites for relocation of Chittenango ovate amber snails (NY). Competition for these awards is not practical as these recipients are uniquely qualified to perform the activities of the project based on a variety of factors. The selected recipients have been chosen for meeting the following merit requirements: possession of qualifications sufficient to conduct the proposed activities or ability to obtain them; experience conducting this type of work; adequate resources to carry out the proposed activities or ability to procure them; understanding of project goals to implement the work in a manner that achieves service goals; and a track record of adequately completing projects and providing reports in a timely manner.
