International Epidemiologic Databases to Evaluate AIDS (IEDEA): Applications are being sought for the: 1) establishment of the IEDEA consortium, a collaborative group of international regional data centers, for the compilation of data to address research questions in HIV/AIDS that are not possible to answer with currently existing individual cohorts, one of which will serve as the Coordinating Center; (see Section I.1., Research Objectives, for countries comprising individual regions) 2) development of regional, generalizable datasets that represent study populations based on data from different settings and populations; and 3) development of procedures and approaches to allow regions to more accurately address and monitor the HIV epidemic within their populations.

Additional Information on Eligibility
Eligible agencies of the Federal Government are eligible to apply. Foreign institutions are eligible to apply. Institutions must be in compliance with U.S. laws and regulations and DHHS and NIH policies in effect at the time of grant award and during the period of performance of the research. Foreign Organizations Several special provisions apply to applications submitted by foreign organizations: - Charge back of customs and import fees is not allowed. - Format: every effort should be made to comply with the format specifications (http://www.format.nih.gov/FAQ/FAQ.htm), which are based upon a standard US paper size of 8.5" x 11". - Funds for up to 8 percent administrative costs (excluding equipment) can now be requested (http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-01-028.html) - Organizations must comply with federal/NIH policies on human subjects, animals, and biohazards. - Organizations must comply with federal/NIH biosafety and biosecurity regulations.
