Limited Competition: AIDS and Cancer Specimen Resource (ACSR) (U01): -The National Cancer Institute (NCI) invites competing continuation applications for a limited competition Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for support of the AIDS and Cancer Specimen Resource (ACSR). The NCI established the AIDS and Cancer Specimen Resource in 1992 to acquire, store, and equitably distribute tumor tissues and biological fluids from patients with HIV-associated malignancies. This renewal FOA is designed to continue the support for the collection, storage, and distribution of specimens from individuals with HIV-related malignancies and appropriate HIV-negative control subjects to the scientific research community-at-large. -The structure of the ACSR consists of three Regional Biospecimen Repositories and a Central Operations and Data Coordinating Center (CODCC, at the same site as one of the Regional Biospecimen Repositories). As in the current funding period, each Regional Biospecimen Repository proposed for competitive renewal is expected to be composed of two or more member institutions which, under the guidance and direction of a single Principal Investigator, will contribute biospecimens, biological fluids, and data. In addition, as the administrative unit, the CODCC will continue to coordinate all the ACSR s activities and maintain the database of available specimens and clinical data. -This limited competition FOA will use the U01 cooperative agreement mechanism. Two types of U01 applications may be submitted in response to this FOA: i) application for a Regional Biospecimen Repository Award; or ii) application for the CODCC award.
