Limited Competition for the Continuation of the Consortium for Radiologic Imaging Studies in Polycystic Kidney Disease (CRISP) (U01): Purpose. The purpose of this Limited Competition is to invite applications from the participating clinical sites and the Data Coordinating and Imaging Analysis Center (DCIAC) that have participated in the Consortium for Radiologic Imaging Studies in Polycystic Kidney Disease (CRISP) clinical study, and therefore have continued access to the cohort of patients and the data from the prospective observational study of polycystic kidney disease (PKD).The primary objectives of this initiative are to continue follow-up of the well-characterized and highly motivated CRISP patient and to provide a platform for informative ancillary studies. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH cooperative agreement (U01)award mechanism. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. The NIDDK intends to commit approximately $1,500,000 in Fiscal Year2011 to fund three participating clinical centers and one DCIAC in response to this Limited Competition. Budget and Project Period.An applicant may request up to $225,000 direct costs per year for up to five years. Application Research Strategy Length: The U01 Research Strategy section may not exceed 12 pages, including tables, graphs, figures, diagrams, and charts. See Table of Page Limits. Eligible Institutions/Organizations. Institutions/organizations listed in Section III, 1.A. are eligible to apply. Eligible Project Directors/Principal Investigators (PDs/PIs). Individuals with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to carry out the proposed research are invited to work with their institution/organization to develop an application for support. Individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups as well as individuals with disabilities are always encouraged to apply for NIH support.
