Livable Communities Grants -- EPA REGION 2: The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 2 is seeking proposals that promote livable communities throughout the region. Eligible entities should propose innovative solutions to specific urban or rural environmental problems related to air and water quality, toxic substances, and/or solid waste management. We are particularly interested in receiving proposals that address Green Building practices. We will also welcome proposals for other types of projects including community redevelopment and revitalization; integrated community planning; green business practices; integrating smart growth principles into planning; mitigating the impacts of sprawl; community education and capacity building; and waste reduction and materials reuse. This competitive, small grants program provides $75,000 for EPA Region 2 to award grants for livable community activities throughout the region (New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands). Proposals should be in the range of $10,000 as the federal share of the project. There is a 20% match requirement. Matching funds may include cash or in-kind contributions. Any funds counted toward the match must be for costs EPA can fund. Allowable costs for non-profit organizations are defined in OMB Circular A-122; allowable costs for public entities and Indian Tribes are defined in OMB Circular A-87.
