Management and status surveys for bog turtles in North Carolina: THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD TO A SINGLE SOURCE, AND THERE IS NO FULL ANNOUNCEMENT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS NOTICE. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) intends to award a cooperative agreement to Tangled Bank Conservation.The lead scientist and founder of Tangled Bank Conservation has been conducting research on reptiles and amphibians and has been involved with bog turtle work in North Carolina for many years. The associate scientist at Tangled Bank Conservation has conducted research on bog turtle recruitment and management in North Carolina in bogs that are part of this project. Tangled Bank researchers have the skills necessary to safely track turtles and find nests and are trusted partners in the bog turtle conservation community. Competition for this award is not practical because researchers at Tangled Bank Conservation have the particular expertise and ability to conduct the required work.
