Management of Severe Febrile Illness: Through this request for application (RFA) and the resulting award, USAID aims to support the Government of Tanzania in improving child health and to strengthen the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare's (MoHSW) capacity to provide fundamental diagnostic and treatment services for malaria and other major causes of severe febrile illness and death in children under five, and to strengthen linkages with community based child health promotion programs including those that serve orphans and vulnerable children (OVC). The program will be implemented in three regions within the Lake Zone that exhibit some of the highest rates of malaria and child mortality in Tanzania. The geographic scope of the project may expand pending performance of the project and availability of funds. Outcomes are expected to contribute to reductions in under-five mortality as part of the President's Malaria Initiative (PMI) and through joint USAID programming in child health.
