Museum Collections, Archives Cataloging, and Data Management for Lake Mead NRA: Lake Mead National Recreation Area (LAKE), Grand Canyon Parashant National Monument (PARA), and Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument (TUSK) have extensive museum collections including but not limited to archaeological artifacts, natural and paleontological specimens and archives housed in LAKEâ¿¿s curation facility and on loan to various other museum repositories. In addition LAKE houses and maintains collections belonging to the Bureau of Reclamation, Lower Colorado Region (BOR). The parks have an extensive backlog of collections and new collections arrive on a regular basis. These collections require processing, cataloging, storage and an annual inventory. In addition new loans require processing and existing loans require ongoing tracking. The objective of this agreement is to provide research associates the opportunity to work with NPS professional staff to obtain experience in complex museum management issues and projects. The research associates (RA) will have the opportunity to learn and participate in park operational areas including but not limited to cultural and natural resource management. This will provide the RA practical experience enabling them to make long term career goals and decisions.
