NCMHD Endowment Program for Increasing Research and Training Capacity in Section 736 Health Professions Schools (NCMHD Research Endowment Fund) (S21 and S22): -In November 2000, the Congress enacted Public Law 106-525, which established the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD). -The law directed the NCMHD to establish an endowment program at eligible Section 736 health professions schools that support programs of excellence in health professions education for underrepresented minority individuals. A list of current Section 736 health professions schools is provided in Attachment #1. -This program was competed successfully in Fiscal Years (FY) 2001 through FY 2006.

Any Section 736 institution with a currently funded Program of Excellence in Health Professions Education for Underrepresented Minority Individuals, and a corporate/system-wide endowment that is less than/or equal to 50 percent ($837,543,095) of the national endowment average of Section 736 institutions is an eligible applicant.
