NCMHD Endowment Program for Increasing Research and Training Capacity in Section 736 Health Professions Schools (NCMHD Research Endowment Fund) (S21 and S22): -In November 2000, the Congress enacted Public Law 106-525, which established the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD). -The law directed the NCMHD to establish an endowment program at eligible Section 736 health professions schools that support programs of excellence in health professions education for underrepresented minority individuals. A list of current Section 736 health professions schools is provided in Attachment #1. -This program was competed successfully in Fiscal Years (FY) 2001 through FY 2006.

Foreign institutions are not eligible to apply. Any Section 736 institution with a currently funded Program of Excellence in Health Professions Education for Underrepresented Minority Individuals, and a corporate/system-wide endowment that is less than/or equal to 50 percent ($837,543,095) of the national endowment average of Section 736 institutions is an eligible applicant. See Section II, Award Information. The endowment award supports the institutional component that manages the eligible section 736 program.
