NIDCR Clinical Pilot Data Grant: - The goal of this program announcement is to support the collection of clinical pilot data that; - can be used in preparing an application for a Clinical Trial Planning Grant or a definitive Phase III clinical trial; or, - indicate that a Phase III clinical trial is not feasible at this time. - By providing resources to collect essential data required for the design of a subsequent full-scale Phase III clinical trial, the applicant should be in a better position to address in a definitive way the core design issues that are involved in clinical trial research. - This grant is not intended to support small pilot clinical trials; i.e., applications may not include randomization to treatment groups. - The total amount to be awarded depends on the scientific merit of applications and the funds available in NIDCRs general funding pool. - The type of mechanisms supported under this PA is the R21. - Eligible organizations include for-profit; not-for-profit; units of state and local governments; eligible agencies of the Federal government; domestic or foreign institutions/organizations; and public or private institutions such as universities, colleges, hospitals, and laboratories. - Eligible principal investigators include any individual with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to carry out the proposed research.. - Applicants may submit more than one application, provided they are scientifically distinct. - See Section IV.1 for application materials. - Telecommunications for the hearing impaired is available at: TTY 301-451-0088
