NIJ FY24 Evaluation of BJA Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (SCIP): Scan of Practices and Evaluability Assessments: With this solicitation, NIJ seeks proposals to examine programs funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (SCIP) in Fiscal Years (FY) 2022-2024. The BJA Byrne SCIP program provides funding for the implementation and/or creation of specific program areas: (1) extreme risk protection order (ERPO) programs, (2) courts response to people in crisis, (3) community-based services for people in crisis, and (4) funding for law enforcement crisis intervention programs or initiatives. This NIJ solicitation seeks research addressing two categories: (1) scan of practices of state crisis intervention activities including those funded by BJA under the FY 2022-2023 and FY 2024 BJA Byrne SCIP (anticipate one award of up to $600,000); and (2) evaluability assessments for each of the four program areas funded by BJA under the FY 2022-2023 and FY 2024 BJA Byrne SCIP solicitations (anticipate 4 awards of up to $1,500,000 per award). Applicants must clearly indicate the category to which they are responding in the application title.
