NOTICE OF INTENT: 2016 FLAG AZCC ALCC Archeological Site Preservation Maintenance FY16: Cooperative Agreement Number P15AC00024 was entered into by and between the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, and Arizona Conservation Corps (AZCC) for the purpose of completing important conservation projects, providing young adults with structured, safe and challenging work and educational opportunities through employment projects that promote personal growth, the development of life skills, and an ethic of natural resource stewardship providing. The terms and conditions as stated in the Cooperative Agreement will apply to this Task Agreement.
Project Description: In 2016, the Flagstaff Area National Monuments will be conducting preservation maintenance on standing architectural remains at nine locations at Wupatki and Walnut Canyon National Monuments. Work sites include 900-year-old front country pueblos Crack-in-Rock, Wupatki, Wukoki, Lomaki and Walnut Canyon Ranger Ledge and Island Trail cliff dwellings. Preservation maintenance includes repointing eroded mortar joints, resetting loose wall stones, resetting wall caps and cleaning water drains and vegetation rehabilitation. NPS preservation specialists will provide orientation, training and oversee daily activities.
