National Coordinating Center for the Regional Genetic Service Collaboratives: This announcement solicits applications for the National Coordinating Center (NCC) for the Regional Genetic Service Collaboratives (RCs). The program was established to enhance, improve, and expand access to quality genetic services over the lifespan, in keeping with the statutory authority Title V, Section 501(a)(2) of the Social Security Act, as amended (42 U.S.C. 701(a)(2)) which requires that HRSA provide ¿for genetic disease testing, counseling, and information development and dissemination programs.¿ The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement for the NCC is to: 1) develop a framework for a national network of regional genetic centers that will serve as a shared resource for providers and patients in each region, assuring that all individuals have access to the same high quality genetic services regardless of where they live; 2) support and coordinate the work of Regional Genetic Service Collaboratives (RCs) and disseminate national collaborative activities that address the infrastructure needs of public health genetic services in each state; and 3) provide a national genetics education and consumer network.
