Notice of Intent: Museum Resource Center Collections Preservation and Analysis Internship: The purpose of this modification is to increase funding to carry out tasks described in the Task Agreement P13AC01436 and subsequent modifications and to extend the term by two years.

Curated collections are primary data sources that provide information for long-term research needs. Few students in areas of cultural resource stewardship are trained in collections management. This project is a partnership of the University of Maryland and the NPS, which offers unique career exploration opportunities. NPS will mentor students and help them acquire valuable practical experience and build relationships with professionals and organizations in the preservation and curation of cultural resources.

The program assists interns gain experience to build their resumes in this field. Participating in curation activities helps students develop and demonstrate search strategies, evaluation skills, critical thinking, problem solving, and participate in networked conversation, and use information ethically. This position is ideal for a student interested in Archeology, American History, Archives, Library Science and material culture studies.
