Onchocerciasis Elimination in the Americas: The purpose of the program is to support OEPA's onchocerciasis elimination activities including interrupting the transmission of the diseases through semi-annual distribution of MectizanR (ivermectin) in the endemic areas of the region and conducting post-treatment epidemiological surveillance in each focus area in preparation for elimination certification from WHO. This program will support the Global Health Initiative's (GHI) target of eliminating onchocerciasis in Latin America by 2016.
