PPHF-2015-Enhanced Surveillance for New Vaccine Preventable Disease - A Program Expansion for Acute: The main purpose of this supplemental funding announcement is to support a network of US
institutions to assess influenza VE in preventing laboratory-confirmed influenza infections among
hospitalized children aged <18 years.
A second purpose of the supplement is to establish an inpatient surveillance network for surveillance
of important non-influenza viral pathogens associated with pediatric acute respiratory illness,
including RSV and EV-D68, among children aged <5 years.
