Postdoctoral Training in Research on Aging in Canada (F32): -The central goals of this program are to offer postdoctoral training in research on aging at designated Canadian research institutions and to encourage collaboration between the United States and Canada in identifying and developing postdoctoral-level investigators for careers in research on aging and health. -The type of mechanism being used is the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Awards (NRSA) for Individual Postdoctoral Fellows (F32). -Eligible Canadian research institutions can be found at: http://www.cihr-irsc.gc.ca/e/25503.html. -It is expected that up to four (4) awards will be issued per year, for a maximum total of twelve (12) over the three-year period of the program announcement.

Foreign institutions are not eligible to apply. Applicants must choose Canadian institutions and mentors selected by CIHR-IA. These institutions and mentors can be located through the CIHR Funding Database, which can be accessed at: http://www.cihr-irsc.gc.ca/e/826.html .By the time of award, candidates for the postdoctoral fellowship award must be citizens or non-citizen nationals of the United States, or must have been lawfully admitted to the United States for Permanent Residence (i.e., possess a currently valid Alien Registration Receipt Card I-551, or other legal verification of such status). Non-citizen nationals are generally persons born in outlying possessions of the United States (i.e., American Samoa and Swains Island). Individuals on temporary or student visas are not eligible. Individuals may apply for the F32 in advance of admission to the United States as a Permanent Resident recognizing that no award will be made until legal verification of Permanent Resident status is provided. Additionally, candidates must be eligible to travel to and reside in Canada and must obtain the requisite visa from the Government of Canada. See announcement for additional requirements.
