Potash Resources of the Paradox Basin: This analysis will not only provide the public with information on the salt deposits in the Paradox basin in order for possible mineral development and leasing, but it will provide the BLM a basis for management by helping to define "Known" potash leasing areas on Federal lands. The BLM will provide all information that is available in its files as far as drill hole analysis and location. The BLM will also provide technical oversight on developing the basis for the analysis and will periodically review the technical approach. BLM will then review the final analysis and provide any comments necessary to help with the project. The UGS will use their data base in order to analysis all the information available to come up with an interpretation of the potash resources in the basin. The UGS will provide the publicly available information to any interested parties. Because this is an effort that the UGS also has responsibility for they are providing funding to assist with the effort. The UGS will utilize their technical expertise in saline minerals. The principle on the project will be Dr. Wally Gwynne who has focused his work on the saline resources in Utah particularly the Great Salt Lake, Sevier Lake and Paradox Basin.
