Professional English Language Training for journalists in Kazakhstan: The United States of America and the Republic of Kazakhstan cooperate on a wide range of bilateral and regional issues, including the support of Kazakhstan's intentions to increase journalistic professionalism and strengthen local media content and Kazakhstan's vision of becoming a trilingual society. To support the interest of journalists in developing their English language skills, the Embassy of the United States has supported English courses for journalists in six cities of Kazakhstan. On the basis of this experience, the Embassy intends to continue this program to help more Kazakhstani journalists enhance their knowledge of professional English and apply their knowledge of English to advance their careers. The Embassy of the United States of America is seeking applications from qualified educational institutions or non-profit organizations to implement the program entitled “Professional English Language Training for Journalists in Kazakhstan”. Pursuant to 2 CFR 200.400g, it is U.S. Department of State policy not to award profit under assistance instruments. All reasonable, allocable expenses, however, both direct and indirect, which are related to the agreement program and are in accordance with applicable costs standards, may be paid under the grant agreement. Subject to the availability of funds, the U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan intends to issue an award in an amount not to exceed $300,000 in total funding. The Embassy reserves the right to fund any or none of the applications submitted and will determine the resulting level of funding for the award.
