Protecting and Improving Public Health Globally: Building and Strengthening Public Health Impact, Systems, Capacity, and Security: This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) supports the implementation of programs and activities that focus on protecting and improving health globally and implementing the Global Health Security Agenda through partnerships with MoH. Its purpose is to support immediate response efforts for the current Ebola outbreak, other infectious disease outbreaks or health threats, and Public Health Emergencies of International Concern (PHEICs). It is intended to build capacities to prevent, detect, respond, and control infectious disease outbreaks, strengthen border security, and mitigate PHEICs other health threats. This NOFO supports the targets as stated in the Global Health Security Agenda http://www.cdc.gov/globalhealth/security/actionpackages/default.htmProjects for this NOFO should consider building upon existing public health infrastructure focusing on country priorities that are of mutual interest in order to strengthen regional and national partnerships, public health capacity, leadership, strategic collaboration and integrated health programming through MoH. In addition, projects must also consider monitoring and evaluation of overall program performance and the progress of projects or activities, including implementation of the GHSA targetsApplicants cannot apply if awarded under CDC-RFA-GH14-1418 for similar activities; however, awardees may apply to expand efforts to include activities not listed in CDC-RFA-GH14-1418 but listed in this announcement with special consideration given to the countries listed as the GHSA Phase One countries in the Funding Strategy section of the NOFO.
