Provide for NPS Engagement in Earth Science Week and National Fossil Day: A. Project Goals ¿ 1. Address paleontological resource management needs identified by local, front-line National Park Service staff and American Geosiences Institute member societies. 2. Leverage National Park Service-based content and American Geosciences Institute Earth Science Week outreach expertise and web, print, and broadcast media coverage to provide geologic heritage and geologic resource information and activities to more than 50 million people, including the distribution of 14,000 Earth Science Week toolkits. 3. Continue the overwhelmingly positive collaboration between American Geosciences Institute and National Park Service to host and coordinate National Fossil Day during Earth Science Week, as well as understand how partners and participants view National Fossil Day. B. Project Objectives ¿ 1. Recruit interns to complete technical assistance requests from parks, create educational or outreach materials, and coordinate National Fossil Day partnerships and activities. 2. Develop National Fossil Day (part of Earth Science Week) logo and outreach materials 3. Develop NPS-based materials for Earth Science Week toolkit. 4. Continue to utilize and expand partnerships between National Park Service and American Geoscience Institute¿s member societies.
