Research On The Reduction And Prevention Of Suicidality (R01): -Purpose. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to invite grant applications for research that will reduce the burden of suicidality (deaths, attempts, and ideation). The intent is to intensify investigator-initiated research on the topic, to attract new investigators to the field, and increase interdisciplinary approaches to developing effective strategies to reduce suicidality. -Mechanism of Support. This FOA will use the NIH Research Project Grant (R01), but applications under the NIH Small Research Grant Program (R03); the NIH Exploratory/Developmental Research Grant Program (R21); and the NIMH Clinical Exploratory Grant Program (R34) are also sought. Applicants for the R03 should respond to PA-06-180, applicants for the R21 should respond to PA-06-181, and applicants for the NIMH R34 should respond to PA-06-248. -Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. Awards issued under this FOA are contingent upon the availability of funds and the submission of a sufficient number of meritorious applications.
