Risk Factors For Psychopathology Using Existing Data Sets (R01): -The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to invite grant applications involving extensive and innovative use of existing data sets to study the development of psychopathology, including alcohol and drug abuse, in order to guide the development of preventive and treatment intervention strategies. Under this FOA, the NIMH, NIDA and NIAAA encourage research using focused and coordinated analyses of mental health and substance abuse research data that are in public use format or that are privately held by a principal investigator. -This funding opportunity will use the NIH Research Project Grant (R01); however, applications for the Small Research Grant (R03) mechanism are also sought. Applicants for the R03 mechanism must submit their applications electronically and should respond to the NIH Parent FOA for Small Research Grants (PA-06-180). -Because the nature and scope of the proposed research will vary from application to application, it is anticipated that the size and duration of each award will also vary. The total amount awarded and the number of awards will depend upon the quality, duration, costs, as well as the number of applications received. Funding decisions will reflect the needs, priorities and mission of the funding IC(s).
