Santa Monica Mountains Fund Visitor Services and Administrative Support: Created in part for the enjoyment of the public, the Park has a duty to share information with the public about SMMNRA. Members of the public come in person to visitor contact stations and also administrative buildings seeking information about park sites, recreational opportunities, and other park information. The park⿿s current administrative headquarters, formerly housed the main visitor center, so members of the public still routinely visit seeking information and assistance. The front desk at the administrative headquarters also receives deliveries approximately three times per day. Providing helpful and friendly customer service to the public is key to fulfilling the mission of SMMNRA. SMMF has a unique combination of experience and knowledge of the park⿿s work, as well as the mission to promote awareness of the park. For decades, SMMF has jointly produced the OUTDOORS, a publication designed to raise awareness of the park and, more specifically, to promote in-park activities. SMMF has long supported the park⿿s work through private donations through a Cooperating Association Agreement, and has an interest in providing excellent visitor services so that more people will enjoy and appreciate Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. In sum, both parties share a mutual interest in providing excellent visitor services that help the public learn about and enjoy the Santa Monica Mountains and surrounding areas. Personnel from SMMF and NPS will collaborate to⿦ ⿢ Provide face-to-face visitor services at select visitor contact stations and especially at administrative offices frequented by the public. ⿢ Inform the public about the SMMNRA and the National Park System, including but not limited to wayfinding information, recreational opportunities, special park uses and permits, and public programming. ⿢ Provide incidental administrative support for front desk operations, such as receiving mail and other deliveries that arrive for SMMF and SMMNRA. C. Public Purpose ⿢ Provide information and orientation to SMMNRA for members of the public. Topics include wayfinding, recreational opportunities, public programming, and other basic park information. ⿢ Partner with SMMNRA Interpretation staff to deliver interpretive and educational information about SMMNRA. SMMNRA Interpretation staff are typically in the field and unavailable to provide interpretive services at the administrative headquarters and other fixed locations.
