Strengthening the Independence of Malaysia's Judiciary: This project will support the increased independence of Malaysia's judiciary. In line with the Malaysian government's stated efforts to improve accountability and transparency, the project will provide a roadmap and create momentum for the reform of the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) in order to better insulate it from political interference, among other reform measures. To support these goals, particularly as they relate to strengthening the independence of the judiciary, the U.S. Department of State has allocated up to $200,000 in FY 2018 International Narcotics Control and Law Enforcement (INCLE) funds.
