Surveys for Mexican Spotted Owls and the Owl Community in support of watershed restoration: The goal of this project is to complete a detailed survey for Mexican Spotted Owls (a federally-endangered species) that may occupy portions of the Valles Caldera National Preserve. As part of the Mexican Spotted Owl survey, the project will collect data on all the other species of owls on the Preserve. The information is required for obtaining project concurrence with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service under Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act for all restoration and facilities projects on the Preserve.
