Symptom Clusters in Cancer and Immune Disorders (R01): -Purpose: The ultimate goal of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to build a body of science in symptom cluster identification and intervention in cancer and in immune disorders (acquired or autoimmune). -This announcement invites applications to (a) identify and assess biobehavioral characteristics of symptom clusters; or (b) design and test interventions that lead to clear outcomes. A rationale for the choice of a symptom cluster is needed, not just co-occurrence of two or more symptoms. Studies at any point in the disease trajectory, or during the survivorship period are encouraged. -Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the R01 grant mechanism and runs in parallel with an FOA of identical scientific scope, PA-07-009, that solicits applications under the R21 mechanism.
