U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) Large Grants, 2018, U.S. Embassy San Salvador: The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Cultural Heritage Center (“The Center”), through the U.S. Embassy in San Salvador, is accepting project abstracts and full applications for the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) 2018 Large Grants Program. The Center requests project abstracts and, if selected to advance to Round 2, full applications for large-scale, partnership-based projects to preserve significant cultural heritage sites in developing countries through the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP). The projects recommended for funding under this program should advance U.S. foreign policy objectives and demonstrate American commitment to the preservation and protection of cultural heritage in support of prosperity and stability around the world. The deadline for submitting project abstracts is December 29th, 2017. For abstracts that advance to Round 2, the submission deadline for full project applications is February 29th, 2018. Full implementation of the AFCP 2018 Large Grants program is pending the availability of FY2018 funds and an approved congressional spend plan.

Additional Information on Eligibility
ELIGIBLE PROJECT APPLICANTS: The Center defines eligible project applicants as reputable and accountable non-commercial entities, such as non-governmental organizations, museums, ministries of culture, or similar institutions and organizations, including U.S.-based organizations subject to Section 501(c)(3) of the tax code, that are able to demonstrate they have the requisite experience and capacity to manage large-scale multi-year projects to preserve cultural heritage. The embassy will vet applicants for eligibility, suitability, and reputable performance in cultural preservation or similar activities. Embassies will determine whether any country-specific sanctions should be taken into consideration and ensure the applicants are able to receive U.S. federal assistance. Past recipients of awards through the AFCP Large Grants Program may submit applications for continuation funds under this call for proposals.
