Afghanistan Legal Aid through Legal Education: This project will support the overarching goals of 1) strengthening criminal justice systems to be accountable, effective, and just; 2) advancing legislation, international standards, and international agreements that promote citizen security, rule of law, and stable societies; and 3) supporting greater enforcement and advancement of women's legal rights in Afghanistan.The grant will provide funding to build upon the foundation of the previous LALE project in Afghanistan. The LALE Phase II project seeks the continuation of strengthening legal education and increasing access to justice to improve the rule of law sector in Afghanistan. The new project seeks to: 1) increase access to justice through the new legal aid regulation, promulgated by the Afghan government in 2019; 2) provide supplementary practical legal education; and 3) create sustainability for the LALE initiatives.
