Grant Description: Purpose. This FOA issued by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, National Institutes of Health, encourages Research Project grants (R01) applications from institutions/organizations that propose to study decision-making processes in adolescents as they relate to drinking behavior, and the role of neural circuitry development in adolescent decision-making and alcohol abuse and dependence.Mechanism of Support. This FOA will use the NIH Exploratory/Developmental (R21) grant mechanism and runs in parallel with a FOA of identical scientific scope, PA-09-097, that encourages applications under the Research Project Grant (R01) mechanism.Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards.
