Announcement of a Limited Competition of THE NATIONAL DRUG ABUSE TREATMENT CLINICAL TRIALS NETWORK (U10): -This Request for Applications (RFA) from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) announces a limited competition for competitive cooperative agreement renewal applications from established clinical investigators to participate in the National Drug Abuse Treatment Clinical Trials Network (CTN). The competition is restricted to only those institutions that currently house an existing, active Node in the CTN. As a nation-wide partnership among drug abuse treatment providers, researchers, and NIDA staff, the mission of the CTN is to improve the quality of drug abuse treatment throughout the country using science as the vehicle. The CTN provides an enterprise in which community-based service providers, treatment researchers, and NIDA cooperatively develop, validate, refine, and deliver new treatment options to patients in community-level clinical practice. -NIDA expects to award up to a total of $7.5 million per year. -NIDA anticipates awarding up to 3-6 awards under this RFA.

Foreign institutions are not eligible to apply. Special Requirements To promote the development of a collaborative program among award recipients, a number of issues need to be addressed in applications as discussed under Application Procedures, below. Applicants should document their ability to recruit a sufficient number of participants, and should demonstrate their ability and willingness to work cooperatively with NIDA, other awardees, and CTPs, and to follow common protocols. The Principal Investigator must commit a significant level of effort to this project, as described above.
