Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, Southern Appalachian Mountain CESU: The USGS is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research on hydrologically driven ecological change in Sinking Pond, a 35-hectare, seasonally flooded karst depression located on Arnold Air Force Base near Manchester, Tennessee. The research will explicitly compare current spatial and demographic patterns of overcup oak (Qercus lyrata) and associated tree species with patterns previously documented in a 2.3-hectare study plot documented by Wolfe and others (2004).
