Enhance global health security and advance International Health Regulations (2005): This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) supports programs and activities with the goal to enhance global health security and advance International Health Regulations (IHR) (2005) implementation by sustaining and strengthening pandemic influenza and other emerging/re-emerging infectious disease preparedness, detection, and emergency communication capacities in Senegal, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Madagascar, Central African Republic (CAR), and Cambodia. The funded programs and activities carried out by the awardee and sub-awardees will enhance global health security by strengthening pandemic influenza preparedness and response capacities within the IHR (2005) framework, including detection, diagnosis, reporting, and emergency communications, which can be applicable to other emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases and other health threats. Projects developed in response to this FOA shall build upon, extend and improve existing infectious disease s urveillance and response systems through improvements to laboratory capacity and other public health infrastructure with a focus on regional and national partnerships and implementation of IHR (2005)-related core capacities.
