Grant Description
This announcement is for US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) San Andres National Wildlife Refuge (SANWR), New Mexico, Region 2, FY 2011. The purpose of this Grant Agreement is to establish a Rio Grande Water Transactions Program with the focus on the Canalization Reach of the Rio Grande from Caballo Dam south to the New Mexico State line. This agreement will establish a cooperative environmental water transaction program. The objective is to purchase water rights to use for wildlife and habitat restoration on the Rio Grande in southern New Mexico. This project will benefit the public by making water available for native habitat restoration to benefit endangered species, improve management of wetland and riparian habitats and promote healthy ecosystems.
