HIV-1 infection of the Central Nervous System (R01): This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites research grant applications focused on defining and understanding the pathogenic mechanisms involved in Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)-1 induced CNS dysfunction, but within the context of viral suppression and Antiretroviral therapy (ART). The FOA further supports research to identify therapeutic targets against which treatments may be developed to prevent the neurobehavioral and neurological co-morbidities in HIV-1 infected individuals. Basic and translational research in domestic and international settings are of interest. Multidisciplinary research teams and collaborative alliances are encouraged but not required.
