Grant Description: CDCs Procurement and Grants Office has published a program announcement entitled, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Research Centers. Approximately $14,000,000 will be available in fiscal year 2004 to fund 18 to schools of public health, medicine or osteopathy. The purpose of the program is to create a network of health centers to conduct applied public health research. These research centers will: (1) focus on the major causes of death and disability, (2) improve public health practice within communities, and (3) cultivate effective state and local public health programs. The estimated funding date is September 15, 2004.
