Increasing Employment in the MENA Region: The Bureau of Near East Affairs Office of Assistance Coordination (NEA/AC) seeks proposals for projects funded through the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) program that will increase employment in the MENA region through country-specific, targeted projects. Proposals must demonstrate knowledge of the target country's job market constraints and opportunities, and propose project activities that will lead to tangible and sustained results with respect to job placement or job creation. Proposals must be based on the applicant's previous success with employment programs or the application of evidence-based project models with strong likelihood for success in the target country. Proposals also must describe how local leadership and ownership will be leveraged, as well as describe the partnerships with local governments and or private and non-governmental institutions that will be supported with the objective of increasing employment. Applicants may propose interventions in a variety of areas, such as policy reform, institutional development, training, job matching, and enterprise competitive enhancement, among others. But, they must describe in a compelling manner how interventions will lead to quantifiable increases in employment.
Eligible Countries and Territories:
In this announcement, we seek to support projects in Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Tunisia and West Bank/Gaza. Please note: Applications that focus on activities in countries and territories other than those discussed will not be considered.
