- Grant Description
- This is a Notice of Intent to Award to Applegate Forestry LLC. The species is being petitioned to be listed under the Endangered Species Act. Petitioner stated this species is found only on the Mazama Tree farm in the Sand Creek area of southern Oregon. However, populations have the potential to occur elsewhere in Oregon and northern California. Therefore, to be efficient with survey efforts we intend to develop a predictive model that depicts probable areas for Leonas Little Blue butterfly (LLBB). In addition, to assist in completing the 12-month status review for listing we propose to complete targeted sampling of LLBB habitat during all three life stages (adult, egg and larval) of the butterfly to document the co-occurring assemblage of invertebrates, as possible competitors and predators, associated with the LLBB.
