Limited Competition: Strategic Timing of Antiretroviral Treatment (START) (UM1): The purpose of this limited competition Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to continue support to complete the Strategic Timing of Antiretroviral Treatment (START) trial. START is a randomized clinical trial to determine if immediate initiation of antiretroviral treatment (ART) in HIV-positive patients is superior in delaying the occurrence of AIDS, non-AIDS events and death.
