Marin Transit is uniquely qualified as the sole public transit operator in this service area. NPS Point of Contact Darren Brown / Nancy Hornor OVERVIEW STATEMENT OF JOINT OBJECTIVES/PROJECT MANAGEMENT PLAN GGNRA's principal objective of this Agreement is to provide for direct, reliable, convenient and affordable transit service to Muir Woods as a joint public program with Marin Transit. The shuttle services into Muir Woods will reduce vehicle trips and traffic congestion at Muir Woods, by providing alternate access for the public to the park, therein aiding in supporting preservation of National Parklands, will provide for quality visitor experience and will reduce park-related congestion on Marin County roadways leading to Muir Woods. The continuance of this shuttle service program supports GGNRA's natural resource and visitor experience goals and is consistent with GGNRA's General Management Plan (GMP)(1980) and Draft GMP update (2011), as well as goals set by County of Marin's Countywide Plan (2007) and Marin Transit's Short Range Transit Plan (2009).
