- Grant Description
- The United States Government represented by the Department of States Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, Office for Africa and the Middle East, (INL/AME) directs and oversees foreign assistance programs aimed at criminal justice reform in the Republic of South Sudan. INL/AME provides support for rule of law and justice sector authorities as well as a range of assistance and capacity building for law enforcement and the corrections service in South Sudan. In an effort to complement existing USG and international donor efforts to develop the rule of law in South Sudan, INL/AME seeks applications from qualified organizations for a program aimed at improving citizens access to justice by strengthening strategies. Specifically, organizations will be asked to conduct community level assessments at the county level, provide assistance to communities seeking justice, and assistance to justice sector actors delivering services in rural areas. This program will complement ongoing INL programs implemented by the International Development Law Organization, who provide institutional support and training to government justice actors including the Judiciary and the University Of Juba School Of Law. It will further complement ongoing work by INL partners in the areas of policing, and improved management of prisons.
