Pyramid Lake Creel Survey: This project will coordinate efforts between the Lahontan National Fish Hatchery Complex (LNFHC) and the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe (PLPT) to implement creel surveys at Pyramid Lake, Nevada. Fishermen will be interviewed and information will be collected on fish caught, location on the lake as well as the quality of the fishing event. This information will assist the LNFHC and PLPT in evaluating the Lahontan Cutthroat Trout stocking program, health of the fishery, as well as educating the public about the native fishery in Pyramid Lake. Creel surveys give us the ability to address Department of the Interior financial assistance Priority 2 by collecting real time data on the use and success of the Lahontan Cutthroat Trout fishery. With this public interaction we also gain an opportunity to promote the benefit of the Lahontan Cutthroat Trout stocking program as it pertains to future anglers.
