- Grant Description
- The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) provides funding for a limited number of research centers in the reproductive sciences. These centers provide an arena for multidisciplinary interactions among basic and clinical scientists interested in establishing high quality research programs in the reproductive sciences. The purpose of this RFA is to announce the annual recompetition of the Specialized Cooperative Centers Program in Reproduction Research. The NICHD intends to commit approximately $2.9 million in total costs [Direct plus Facilities and Administrative (F and A) costs] in FY 2006 to fund up to two new and/or competing continuation grants in response to this RFA. This RFA will use the NIH Specialized Cooperative Research Center (U54) award mechanism. You may submit an application if your institution has any of the following characteristics: For-profit or non-profit organizations, Public or private institutions, such as universities, colleges, hospitals, and laboratories, Units of State and local governments, Eligible agencies of the Federal government, Domestic. Foreign institutions are not eligible to apply as an applicant institution. However, subcontracts from domestic entities to foreign sites are permitted. Eligible principal investigators include any individual with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to carry out the proposed research, is invited to work with their institution to develop an application for support. Individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups as well as individuals with disabilities are always encouraged to apply for NIH programs. Applications must be prepared using the PHS 398 research grant application instructions and forms (rev. 5/2001).
