There is no application process for this grant. This is a notice of intent to award a grant to the Organization of the Americas (OAS). This is a single source announcement under justification 505 DM 2.14, and the recipient's unique ability to carry out the proposed tasks. The Division of International Conservation intends to enter into agreements with OAS to fulfill our commitment under the Western Hemisphere Migratory Species Initiative (WHMSI). Project grant and cooperative agreement will be used to provide support for the fourth Western Hemisphere Migratory Species Initiative meeting in December 2010. Funding is available through the Division of International Conservation, Wildlife Without Borders program. The only eligible recipient of these funds is the OAS.
Grant Description
The purpose of this grant is to provide support for the fourth Western Hemisphere Migratory Species Initiative (WHMSI) meeting in December 2010. The meeting will review progress made on WHMSI governance,vision, and sustainability, and FEMCIDI grants. The meeting will also discuss new efforts to enhance the conservation of shared migratory species throughout the Americas by strengthening institutional and human capacity, political commitment, international cooperation, and public-private partnerships at regional, national, and local levels. Activities include coordination of facilities, including meeting space and simultaneous translation services, communication with invited participants, coordination of the agenda, logistical arrangements and post-conference follow-up.
