- This is a five-year, open-ended BAA to solicit proposals for the Advanced Manufacturing Propulsion Initiative (AMPI) which will be managed and executed by Air Force Research Laboratory, Materials and Manufacturing Directorate, Manufacturing Technology Division (AFRL/MLM), Wright Research Site. Proposals will only be solicited and accepted during BAA Calls to this announcement. The overall objective of this program is to provide AFRL/MLM with a procurement vehicle for executing the development of advanced manufacturing technologies that impact engines in the 25,000 pound and above thrust class. The F135 and F136 engines for the F-35 are the initial targets for implementation. Calls to the BAA will be issued to request proposals for specific manufacturing technologies in one or more of the following seven technical areas: Ceramic Matrix Composites; Organic Matrix Composites; Ceramic Hybrid Bearings; Advanced Machining; Advanced Casting; Small Hole Drilling and Additive Manufacturing.
