Bridging the Word Gap Research Network: This announcement solicits applications for the Bridging the Word Gap Research Network. Support for this cooperative agreement is available from the Division of Research, Office of Epidemiology and Research (OER), Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).  Please read the entire funding opportunity announcement carefully before completing and submitting an application.    The purpose of this cooperative agreement is to support the creation of an interdisciplinary research network designed to reduce the ¿word gap,¿ the gap in exposure to language among children from low-income families, as compared to children from higher-income families.  The research network will foster scientific collaboration, with a focus on research designed to develop and test interventions to improve early language exposure, vocabulary acquisition, and language development for children from lower socioeconomic status (SES) backgrounds.  The Network should include researchers across a range of disciplines reflecting attention to the health and development of the child and family.
