Technologies, techniques and strategies are sought that areprimarily applicable to low rank coals, coals with relatively lower gascontent, coals with low and/or isolated cleat permeability, and relativelydeeper and/or thinner coals. In general, the DOE seeks innovations thatwilllead to the commercial development of CBM in basins/plays that haveheretoforebeen sub-economic.Enhanced recovery of CBM from traditional plays via noveltechniques/methodsthat have widespread applicability are not excluded from this request. Thedemonstration of truly state-of-the-art/emerging technologies andtechniques innew or underdeveloped basins and plays will also be considered if there isareasonable probability that the technology/exploitation scheme will lead tocommercial operations by industry.
