Duchene and Becker Muscular Dystrophy Education and Outreach Initiative: The purpose of the program is to continue a coordinated education and outreach initiative on Duchene and Becker Muscular Dystrophy (DBMD). Educational activities regarding DBMD will be developed and disseminated to different audiences, including healthcare providers, individuals who have DBMD and their families, and underserved populations through PPMD. PPMD through its vast DBMD parent network is uniquely positioned to develop relevant materials for parents and patients with DBMD that serve multiple application, including but not limited too: materials intended for parents and patients who are newly diagnosed with DBMD and materials that discuss in a concrete and tangible manner the over all prognosis of DMD, and the types of care required over the lifetime of the patient. PPMD has a strong history of involving key stakeholders and other third parties in evaluating the quality of materials produced and the relevance to their targeted DBMD audience, which enables them to strategically and efficiently leverage their niche in the DBMD community.
